The Osa Peninsula, located on Costa Rica’s South Pacific coast, is home to one of the most remote regions and pristine primary forests in the country. Established in October 1975, Corcovado National Park currently protects over 42,000 hectares of land and 3,000 hectares of marine territory. The park features several ranger stations open to the public, providing essential facilities such as drinking water, restrooms, and maintained trail networks for exploration. The main ranger stations are: Los Planes San Pedrillo Sirena Los Patos El Tigre La Leona Important Note: Sirena Station is currently the only sector authorized to provide overnight accommodations for visitors. All other stations are restricted to day-use visits only.
Experience one of the most incredible adventures in Corcovado National Park. This tour takes you by boat to Sirena Station and then across the park on foot to Carate. The hike covers approximately 20 km (12 miles) through rainforest, rivers, and remote beaches, offering excellent opportunities to observe wildlife.
Itinerary
5:20 am – Meeting Point Meet your guide at the main dock in Puerto Jiménez for check-in and tour briefing.
5:30 am – Boat Departure Departure by boat along the coastline of Corcovado National Park toward Sirena Biological Station.
7:15 – 7:30 am – Park Entry Arrival and official check-in at Sirena Station inside Corcovado National Park.
7:30 am – Start of the Hike Begin the hike from Sirena toward Playa Carate. The trail is approximately 20 km (about 6–7 hours) and passes through rainforest, rivers, and coastal areas with great chances to see mamanals , birds, and other wildlife.
3:00 – 4:00 pm – Arrival at Carate Beach Arrival at Playa Carate where transportation will be waiting for the return trip.
4:30 – 5:50 pm – Return to Puerto Jiménez 4×4 car transportation back to Puerto Jiménez.
